Bleaching in Munich

Bright smile through bleaching in only one hour directly in the Asamhof Munich city centre

Bleaching is a purely aesthetic procedure and can only be carried out successfully under certain conditions. It is important to show you the possibilities and limits of this method in advance. Professional teeth cleaning at our clinic in Munich should be carried out urgently before.

Basically there are two possibilities of bleaching in Munich

Office bleaching Munich

In this case, the bleaching is carried out in one session in our Munich practice. A bleaching gel is applied to the teeth in up to two passes of 20 minutes each. The gums are protected beforehand by a special light-curing gel. This is the fastest method of bleaching and lasts a very long time. Several shades of whitening can be achieved. The success can be checked and traced with a colour scale.

Office Bleaching Costs

The costs amount to approx. 650 euros (the price is calculated according to the scale of fees for dentists; the price may vary slightly due to individual medical particularities; plus 19% VAT).

Home bleaching with individually manufactured bleaching trays

Individual bleaching trays are made after impressions of the patient, which are worn by the patient at home for a certain period of time. The advantage is the reusability and the good control of the whitening by the patient. The bleaching gel can be obtained from the practice in Munich when it is used up.

Costs of Home Bleaching

The cost of a home bleaching set including bleaching gel is 800 euros (plus 19% VAT)

Is bleaching dangerous for the teeth? What risks does it involve?

If we carry out a tooth whitening at your place, we take all precautionary measures. Thus the intervention is not dangerous and no injuries will occur.

Before the gel (bleaching agent) is applied to your teeth, we cover the gums with a special rubber-like material. This prevents damage to the gums, while the colour pigments remove discolouration. At the same time, we put on protective goggles so that your eyes are also protected. This is especially necessary during the complete light-activated procedure.

Does bleaching cause pain?

If a bleaching is applied correctly, the entire procedure is gentle on the teeth and completely painless. It is rare that patients complain of a slight pulling in the tooth area. This is the case for example with very sensitive teeth. The slight pulling discomfort is often also experienced as a short, lightning pain.

If you have sensitive teeth and are concerned about possible pain, please let us know. We will find an appropriate solution for this. In this case there may be the possibility of administering a painkiller after the bleaching.

What should be considered before bleaching?

Before we start with the first treatment, a general examination is necessary. Among other things, we look for leaking root fillings or bad fillings that could lead to complications.

In addition, professional teeth cleaning is carried out before teeth whitening. In this way we ensure that your teeth and especially the spaces between your teeth are completely clean.

Please do not apply fluoride or protective varnish to your teeth and do not use antibiotics before bleaching. It is also important to mention that bleaching is not suitable for pregnant patients.

Frequently asked questions before a bleaching treatment with us in Munich

It requires healthy teeth. It should be checked by a dentist that the teeth are free of caries, the gums are not inflamed or affected by periodontal disease. Ideally, a professional teeth cleaning should be done before bleaching.

Bleaching enables white teeth for several years. The effect lasts for about one to two years. If the teeth darken again during this period, another bleaching treatment is possible.

You should only bleach your teeth as many times as it takes to achieve the desired shade. Then give the teeth a break before treating them again with bleaching agents.

Healthy teeth and gums are important prerequisites for whitening. Teeth with untreated caries, leaking fillings, defects in the enamel or fractures are not suitable.

It is a chemical process. A bleaching agent is applied to the tooth surface. In the process, low molecular weight peroxides, often hydrogen peroxide, usually penetrate the enamel and dentin. In the process, released radicals oxidise the discoloured molecules into colourless molecules.

With professional bleaching at the dentist's, you have the chance to make your teeth shine again in a brighter white tone. Contact us for more information. We will be happy to advise you.

As a rule, the whitening effect lasts for up to five years after teeth whitening.

Possible risks and side effects of bleaching:

  • Short-term gum irritation.
  • Short-term increased sensitivity, especially with exposed tooth necks.
  • in the case of untreated caries, tooth whitening can damage the tooth nerve.
  • Changes to the enamel surface due to bleaching.

You can already eat after 1 hour - however, make sure that you do not eat any food that can stain your teeth for the next 48 hours. (e.g. coffee, coloured fruit juices, tea, cigarettes or similar).

Normally not, if the teeth are healthy and have been checked beforehand. In the case of sensitive teeth, short phases of pain in the form of a "pull" are possible. We will be happy to advise you on this.

Sometimes the toothache occurs in the early bleaching phase, that is, when the hydrogen peroxide penetrates the enamel. Not only the incisors, but also all other teeth can be affected by the pain. Very rarely, the pain subsides only after about 2 days.

Is bleaching harmful? We are often asked this question. When bleaching, the enamel surface is first demineralised. This is the only way to discolour and lighten the upper layers of the tooth. In the meantime, many studies have shown that bleaching does not cause any damage to the teeth.

Teeth whitening (bleaching) is a dental service. According to § 1 of the German Dentistry Act (Zahnheilkundegesetz, ZHG), the practice of dentistry is generally reserved for licensed dentists.
